Favourite thing about Christmas

Good morning my crafty friends! :) How are you doing? Are you ready for Christmas? Have you bought/made all your Christmas presents yet? I am pretty much ready, just need to pack everything and I'm planning to do this over the weekend. This year I'm being very organized - I'm even surprising myself. lol

In the evening they are opening up a Christmas town in town square and I'm planning to go and check it out. There will be some music shows, stalls with ideas for last minute gifts etc. Should be fun. And I just might get another thing or two to add to the gift bags. ;)

What would you say if someone asked you what was your favourite thing about Christmas? This is the theme of our challenge that just started at Crafty ribbons blog. I've said it before, but I'll say it again - I love everything about Christmas. So while this theme looks super easy, it might also be a bit tricky. I mean, seriously, how to choose just one thing?! O.o I like the food, Christmas lights and decorations, time spent with family and friends, the smell of cinnamon and oranges ... So when I saw this challenge I started scratching my head, thinking what to do. At the end I decided to make a card which presents sharing joy, giving gifts and spending time with your friends/family.

I think these adorable penguins from Whiff of Joy show those things perfectly, don't you agree? Papers I used on this card came from DCWV and from my stash, grosgrain ribbons are from Crafty ribbons and the other embellishments came from my stash. I received the Christmas ornament die cut and the greenery die cuts a while back with a RAK from my friend, so unfortunaltely I can't tell you what's the brand of those, but I can tell you that poinsettia was made with LLLC die, bigger snowflake is a Sizzix die and smaller snowflakes were made with craft punch.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Faber Castell and Giotto pencils. On the hats I also used liquid applique and Stickles. It's very hard to see in the picture, but I also used Stickles on poinsettia. You know me - I love me some bling. He he. ;)

I hope you are ready for the most magical time of the year and that you will share your favourite thing about Christmas with us.

Have a wonderful day and happy holidays! xx

Shaped Christmas card

Hello my crafty friends! How are you doing? I'm enjoying my time off. On Saturday me and my sweetie went to the capital - they turned on the Christmas lights and opened the "Christmas town" the day before and we were curious what it was like. While we were there we also did some Christmas shopping and I met with my friend for a coffee and chat, while my sweetie went to the book fair. I was pretty tired at the end of the day, but I had a wonderful time. I'm all ready for the most magical time of the year. :)

We have a new challenge for you at Crafty ribbons blog and this week we want to see your Christmas themed shaped cards. This was quite a challenge for me, as I don't have any dies big enough to just cut out the base for my card, so I had to experiment. I have to admit I am quite happy with the result. It turned out better than I expected.

Again I chose the non-traditional colours. I just love purple and blue in combination with gold and/or silver for Christmas. I only used scraps of paper on this card. Image is from Mo Manning and I coloured it with Promarkers, Faber Castell pencils and Giotto pencils. On the white parts of hat and dress I used liqued applique for the fluffy look.

From Crafty ribbons store I used H/C saddle stitch tan Christmas ribbon, gold stars Christmas ribbon and volcan viscose lace - beige.

I hope many of you will participate in this challenge. I can't wait to see what you'll make. :)

Have a wonderful day! xx
